If you bleach your hair or style it with heat chances are it’s encountered some damage. Whether it be breakage, frizz, loss of shine or volume, I feel like most of us can benefit from a little hair TLC.
A couple of months ago I noticed the front of my hair had what appeared to be “layers”. Problem was I didn’t cut any layers. BREAKAGE!! Gulp. What?!?! My hair was breaking? I’d always had pretty good hair. Thick, grows fast, handles bleach well. Be here I was headed straight for mulletville.
So what the heck was going on? If you follow my IG stories then you’ve heard all about my hair saga (in addition to my brow saga, but that’ll be for another post). Anyhow, long story short, my conclusion is that the combination of using a copious amount of dry shampoo and throwing my hair in a tight ponytail to workout 5-6 days a week was the problem. To be honest, looking back, I wasn’t taking that great care of my hair.
So, desperate to fix this mess, off of the recommendation of a friend, I tried Olaplex. WOW! Like WOW! Their products work! I started with their most popular product, the No.3, an at-home leave on treatment and then quickly added the conditioner and styling cream.
So how does this miracle product work?
According to the company, their product “includes a patented active ingredient that works on a molecular level to seek out broken bonds in the hair that are caused by chemical, thermal, and mechanical damage.”
I have zero education in hair care. I have zero experience with hair other than with my own. But so far this product has significantly improved my hair. Not as frizzy, smoother, shinier, and overall looks healthier. Along with with swapping out my ponytails for braids I think i’m on the road to healthier, non-layered hair 😉
I purchased all my Olaplex products from Sephora and will link them here. Feel free to comment if you know of anywhere else to purchase them:
