Who doesn’t love online shopping? I know I do! Browsing from the comforts of your own home. Whether sitting on the couch watching TV, or juggling to make dinner with 3 wild kids running around the house, there is nothing more appealing than one single click of a button! Life is hectic enough without having to make a pit stop at the store when you can simply have it delivered right to your front door. And in most cases in two days or less!
Most of the time this works great, BUT you have to be careful who you buy from. Especially when it comes to skin care products (or any personal care/health product for that matter). I’ve been telling patients for years to only purchase their skin care products from specifically authorized retailers, and now it has officially been confirmed!
A federal investigation was performed and it was found that out of 47 items purchased though online retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Ebay, Sears and Newegg, 20 were counterfeit! So what exactly does that mean when it comes to skin care products?
Well, according to the official report the counterfeit cosmetics found “contain hazardous substances, including cyanide, arsenic, mercury, lead, urine, and rat droppings”. WHAATTT?!?! I’m sorry, did I read that right? Rat droppings???
Here is the link to the full article. Please, do yourself a favor and read this before ordering any skin care products online.
Skin care products should only be purchased through an authorized retailer. So how do you know who is an authorized retailer? Just order directly from the company itself or make that extra stop and run in to the store or medical office to pick up your products!
